Let’s make our house greener! Yes, today we are going to talk about plants and explain why you should have some inside of your house.
We always talk about green cleaning, but there is nothing better than real plants to purify the air in our house.
Nature is perfect! And proof of this is our amazing ecosystem!
Everything, from plants and animals to microorganisms, has an important role in keeping balance in this planet.
As you know, plants have an important role in purifying the air, since differently from us, they convert carbon dioxide into oxygen through the process of photosynthesis.
What do researchers say about it?
Researchers show that some gases called Volatile Organic Compound – VOCs are found in paints, adhesives, carpets, furniture, and cosmetics, for example, are silent villains that can cause serious harm to our health such as allergies, organ damage, and cancer (American Lung Association, 2018).
Since plants are great natural air cleaners, it is worth to make your house a little bit greener; not to mention that the plants also embellish your house.
According to Jonathan S. Kaplan (Phycology Today, 2009), “the presence of potted plants has been found to be helpful in many different settings including work, school, and hospitals”.
Researches have shown that pottery plans help to increase productivity and attentiveness, and they also help to lower anxiety and blood pressure.
In addition, Sally Augustin, an environmental psychologist (Psychology Today, 2018), states that “green leafy plants” not only improves your mood and creativity, but they also help to unwind, and to restore “mental processing power after we’ve depleted them doing knowledge work”.
But maybe you are thinking: What do I do if I am not a good plant keeper?
Well, start with some plants that are easy to take care such as succulents, cactus, bamboos, money trees, and rubber tree.
In my house, for example, I have some avocado tree. They grow just as much as the environment allows it to grow, and they provide a sophisticated and fresh look to my apartment.
You don’t need to surplus your house with plants. Just keep one or two in some rooms of your house and enjoy the benefits they will bring to your sweet home.
