Learn Some House Cleaning Tips Using Coconut Oil

House Cleaning with Coconut Oil

I’m sure by now you have all heard something regarding the coconut oil craze!
In my home coconut oil is a staple… I use it in my hair, as a night mask, or as a mouth swooshing. It’s a natural toothpaste, a great hand cream, and a  great ointment for soothing bug bites…
The list goes on and on for health and beauty! But there is more to coconut oil than just health and beauty… Yep, you guessed it: house cleaning!
I am sure my blog heading did nothing to tip you off ?. Being in the green cleaning business, it is extremely important my staff of professional house cleaners be armed with the right cleaning tools.
In todays blog, I am going to list a few of my favorite uses of coconut oil when house cleaning.

Coconut Oil for House Cleaning

  1. Clean your leather couches and wood furniture with coconut oil:
In a bowl, add 1 cup of water and two tsp of vinegar. With a dry and soft cloth wipe down the leather couches or wood furniture to rid them off of any dust or pet hair. Once the furniture items are dust free apply the water and vinegar mixture with a soft cloth and wipe it down. After you have cleaned the items, it is now time to breath life back into the leather or wood with coconut oil.
In a clean bowl, add 3 tablespoons of coconut oil, heat the oil to a liquid, if it is not liquefied. Take your soft cloth and apply the coconut oil to the leather or wood items. Once you have wiped the leather or wood furniture down, go back over the items with a clean cloth and buff out (just a light wipe down).
The coconut oil takes out scratches and makes the furniture look brand new.
2. Lift scuff marks from floors.
Using a tiny bit of coconut oil and a cloth, wipe over the marks. Be sure to wipe up the oil to prevent any accidents and slipping.
3. Bronze Polish
By rubbing just a little coconut oil into bronze items, you can deepen the color. Using a cotton cloth, add just a little oil to the cloth and then, wipe it down the bronze item.
4. Shower scum
Use a tsp of coconut oil on a damp cloth, and apply to soap scum in a rubbing motion. As a preventive to soap scum, you can do this weekly to your tub. Be sure to rinse well all areas applied to avoid slipping.
As a recommendation, Spectrum Organic Coconut Oil is my preferred coconut oil for health and beauty.
